Composites resins are supplied as liquids that, when catalyzed, cure to a solid and form the matrix that holds reinforcements together in composites parts. Resin formulations vary depending on the process used to fabricate the part and the requirements of its end-use application.
CCP Composites US's extensive composites resins line includes products that can be used to fabricate composites parts for these major processes:+ CIPP (Cured In-Place Pipe)
+ Closed Molding including Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), light RTM, Closed
Cavity Bag Molding (CCBM) and vacuum bag infusion
+ Laminating - Open mold hand lay-up or spray-up
+ Casting for marble, onyx and solid surfaces
+ Molding including compression molding of SMC and BMC, injection molding and
wet molding
+ Pultrusion
The composites resins line also includes products formulated for more specialized processes including production of FRP tooling, filament winding and centrifugal casting.
Resins offered for each of these processes cover a wide range of chemistries including unsaturated polyester resins, vinyl ester resins and urethane hybrids. These chemistries can be used to formulate resins meeting varying end-use requirements such as cosmetic properties, mechanical properties, water resistance, chemical or corrosion resistance, heat resistance and flame retardance.
