CCP Announces Restart of Large Capacity Blenders in North Kansas City

North Kansas City, MO - January 24, 2013 - CCP Composites announces plans to restart large batch production utilizing the 60 and 90 drum gel coat blenders at its North Kansas City plant. As part of this process, CCP will hire the additional resources necessary to support these activities.

The need for the large capacity blenders in North Kansas City is due in part to support the company's notable increase in gel coat batch production over the last two years. This will also open capacity in CCP's other manufacturing facilities to support the continued growth of the IMEDGE product line and the new IMEDGE HPB (High Performance Barrier) technology. CCP is also anticipating the need for additional capacity in its regional facilities for the release of IMEDGE FUSION, a new in-mold coating currently in beta testing and scheduled to be offered later this year.

This restart, along with the previously announced Pacific Northwest blending facility (scheduled to open in 2013), is part of CCP's longer term strategy and yet another example of its dedication to support the growth of the composites industry.

FIREBLOCK Resin to be Used in Sao Paulo Monorail Project

Bombardier Transportation, Brazil, has chosen the CCP Composites FIREBLOCK product to be used in the manufacture of parts for the new BOMBARDIER INNOVIA Monorail 300 system in São Paulo, Brazil. The monorail parts, which will be used in the wheel house areas on the 378 new monorail cars, will be manufactured in Quebec by FDC Composites and built by Bombardier Transportation. The new monorail vehicles will provide the transport capacity of a subway, but with less cost and faster implementation, helping to alleviate the often gridlocked traffic in the city. The new monorail system will also aid in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by providing an alternative form of transportation, taking more cars off the road and reducing the amount of travel time for the remaining vehicles.

FIREBLOCK was selected for this project because of its ability to meet the testing standards for the industry. A winner of the 2011 JEC Innovation Award, FIREBLOCK is a series of nonhalogenated, fire-retardant resins and gel coats being offered to the Composites Industry by CCP Composites. FIREBLOCK covers a complete range of composites gel coat and resin technologies for a variety of applications. Based on char-producing intumescent technology, these intumescent materials swell and produce an oxygen-blocking char layer on the composite surface when exposed to flame/heat. The low density and poor thermal conduction of the char layer protects the underlying body of material from damage with continued heat or flame exposure.
